Every home generates a list that does not sort neatly into categories. A shelf that needs mounting, a wall that needs patching, a pergola that has started to lean, trim that never got finished after a previous project. None of it warrants calling a specialty contractor, and all of it sits there.
Don Wojan Handyman takes on that assortment for homeowners throughout North Dallas and Collin County. Veteran owned with more than twenty-five years of construction and remodeling experience, we work inside those two regions exclusively — Plano, Allen, McKinney, Wylie, Murphy, Princeton, Prosper, Lucas, and the North Dallas neighborhoods among them.
The pages on this site cover windows, doors, flooring, cabinets, decks, fences, siding, and restoration in depth. This page is for everything else. If your project does not appear below, send the details anyway — the odds are good it falls within what we do.
Carpentry And Structures
Outdoor structures are a large share of this work. Pergola construction and repair, shade arbors, patio covers, and the post-and-beam framing that holds them up all fall inside our scope. North Texas sun makes covered outdoor space genuinely useful rather than decorative, and existing structures around Plano and central Collin County are now old enough that posts, beams, and rafters need attention.
We also build and repair storage buildings, sheds, and the detached structures common on the larger lots east of McKinney and around Lucas and Parker. Ramps, landings, steps, and railings fall here too, including work aimed at improving access for someone with mobility limitations.
Interior carpentry covers a wide range: baseboard, casing, crown molding, chair rail, wainscot and paneling, closet shelving and rod systems, built-in shelving, mantels, and stair trim. Finish carpentry is where a room either looks intentional or looks close enough, and closing that gap is straightforward work for someone who has done it for decades.
Mounting and installation requests round out this category. Televisions, heavy mirrors, shelving into masonry or studs, grab bars anchored properly rather than into drywall alone, curtain and blind hardware, and attic ladders.
Drywall And Interiors
Sheetrock repair comes up constantly, usually as a byproduct of something else. Doorknob holes, furniture damage, cracks at corners where the house has moved, nail pops, seams that have opened, and the openings left behind after a plumbing or fixture repair.
Our drywall work covers patching and hole repair at any size, replacing damaged sections, taping and floating, texture matching, and preparing surfaces so they take paint without telegraphing the repair. Texture matching is the part most homeowners underestimate — orange peel, knockdown, and hand-troweled finishes each require a different approach, and a patch that reads as a patch defeats the purpose.
Ceiling repair belongs here as well, including water-stained sections once the source has been resolved, popcorn texture damage, and the cracks that appear along ceiling-to-wall junctions as slabs move seasonally.
We also handle general interior repair that resists labeling: adjusting sticking drawers, resecuring loose handrails, repairing damaged thresholds, addressing squeaky stairs, weatherstripping and door sweeps, caulking around tubs and backsplashes, and the fixture-level replacements that fall within handyman scope — cabinet hardware, towel bars, and similar. Where a job requires a licensed trade, we tell you that directly and you can bring in the appropriate contractor rather than finding out after the fact.
What Customers Report
Feedback from people who have already had work done says more than any service list can, and ours keeps returning to the same practical ground: arriving at the time promised, staying in contact instead of going quiet partway through, explaining what is actually wrong in ordinary language, and cleaning up before heading out. One customer described a shower fixture and cartridge repair handled within three days of the initial call. Others have noted that Don's years as an insurance adjuster with Allstate and State Farm proved useful when their project intersected with a claim, and several mentioned work finishing sooner than they expected. That record continues to build as we serve more households across North Dallas and Collin County, and we would rather grow it one completed project at a time than overstate it.
Common Questions
The projects on this page cover a wide range of topics, ensuring that most inquiries are tailored to the job at hand. However, some common questions arise during calls, and we've provided answers to those frequently asked questions below.
If your question isn’t addressed, please include it with your request. We value clear communication and prefer to inform you upfront if something is outside our services, ensuring a smooth and transparent process from start to finish.
Can you handle several unrelated projects in one visit?
Yes, and that is usually the most efficient approach. Bundling compatible work reduces trips and setup time. List everything when you request a quote.
Is there work you do not take on?
Yes. Jobs requiring a licensed trade, engineered structural work, and projects needing specialty equipment beyond our scope get referred out. We say so plainly.
Do you match existing texture on drywall repairs?
In most cases, closely. Hand-applied and older textures sometimes require test patches to get right, and we will do that rather than guess.
Will you look at a project not listed on this site?
Send the details. Much of what we do falls outside a neat category, and a short description usually settles it quickly.

Use the form to describe what you need. Do not edit the list down — write out everything you have been meaning to address, even the items you assume are too small to mention. Small items are frequently the ones best handled alongside something larger.
Photos help on nearly every project type. A wide shot showing context plus a close-up of the specific problem answers most of what we would otherwise ask. We will confirm your address falls inside North Dallas or Collin County, review your list, and set a time to look at the work in person. Estimates are free, and if part of what you have described belongs with a licensed specialty contractor, we will tell you that up front rather than after the invoice.
